Good morning Year 6

We can see that you have fired up your laptops, got your books out and are now ready to learn! FABULOUS! It's really important to exercise everyday. It not only keeps your body fit and healthy, but your mind too. So first of all, log in to Joe Wicks and have a go at his PE lesson. Then continue your learning with maths, English and art. There is an extra French task from Miss Miskell if you would like to have a go at that today. Can we say a massive thank you to all adults who are helping you with your learning!!

Below are your tasks for today. Remember if you need to ask any questions go to the class blog and add a comment to 31-3-20 TODAY'S WORK. Keep checking the comments on this BLOG because that is where we will post our replies to you.

Write your answers in your red ruled exercise book. They are true or false questions and are all worth one-mark. I will put the answers in the English folder on the Year 6 page of the website tomorrow so you can mark them and tell me your score out of 8.

MATHS

L.O: Finding factors of a number.

Please go to the MATHS FOLDER on the YEAR 6 CLASS PAGE. You will find a set of slides. Please read the slides the questions are on the last slide. There is also a link to a video that will help you. I have given you 8 numbers and I want you to find me the factors of those numbers. I've told you how many factors you are looking for to make it easier. Draw factor in your book then send me a blog with your answers.

Eg The factors of 12 are 1,12,2,6,3,4

ART

LO: To identify Islamic Art

Today we are going to look at the artwork used in AD 900 Baghdad, which is still popular today. Read the power point on Islamic art inside the art folder on the year 6 web page.  Complete ONE task from the three options given on the power point.

When you have finished it, either photograph it and attach it to today’s blog or email it to me at the following address:

Year6J_Home@st-john.lancs.sch.uk

Option 1:

Click on the following link to download and print an Islamic geometric pattern. Colour it using appropriate colours (NOT neon pink).

http://coloringkids.org/islamic-coloring-pages/islamic-coloring-pages-4/

Option 2:

Create a word document. Search google images and choose your 4 favourite geometric Islamic art patterns and copy them onto your word document. Write 5 facts underneath your patterns to show what you have learnt about Islamic art eg there are no humans or animals in Islamic art.

Option 3:

FOR THE BRAVE - if you have a pair of compasses follow instructions on the power point to create your own Islamic geometric pattern. Colour appropriately and make sure your pattern is symmetrical.

FRENCH Task from Mrs Miskell

Today I'd like you to watch a video about saying what fruit you like. As you watch the video, write down the names in French of the 8 fruits you see. (The link is below).

I'd then like you to write 8 sentences saying which of the fruits you like or dislike, for example:

j'aime les....... = I like .........

je n'aime pas les........ = I don't like ........

j'adore les ......... = I love .........

je déteste les ........ = I really don't like

je préfère les ....... = I prefer

The word that is missing in the sentences is the name of a fruit you learned in the video!

Please complete the work in your exercise books, and if you can add a picture to today's blog so I can see all your hard work!
