Good morning Year 2, I hope you are all ok, we are nearly at the end of our final week before half term! Wow!  

I absolutely LOVED seeing you yesterday on the team's meeting, it was so lovely to see all your smiling faces and you looking so well. Today, in Maths, we will be trying out Times Tables Rockstars for the first time, I hope you enjoy it!! Then, in English, we will be writing our Great Fire of London poem using lots of exciting vocabulary. Finally, in Science, we will be learning about keeping ourselves clean and why it is important to do so. Please keep on working hard and trying your best 

Please find time to log onto www.getepic.com/students every day and read a book! I am monitoring your reading online and loving the variety of books you are choosing to read! I will be giving out reading awards for the children who are reading regularly!

Task 1

Today I would like you to log onto Times Table Rock Stars for the first time! If you are working from home, I have emailed you your log in details, if you are at school, the office have kindly printed you your log ins! If you haven't received your log in details, please email me 

How to log in:

1. Type in the website

2. Put in our school

3. Enter your username

4. Enter your password

5. Choose yourself a character

6. You will see I have set you the 10 times table this week, click play and lots of questions will appear for you to solve using your 10 times table knowledge. Each game is timed. For every correct answer, you earn coins!

Please play on Times Table Rock Stars for at least 20 minutes to build up your bank of coins! 

Playing TTRS will place you on a leader board in our school. At some point in the near future, I will set us up a boys vs girls tournament! The more you log in and play, the more coins that you will earn! Feel free to play TTRS as often as you like in your spare time, it is great fun and excellent practice of your times tables! I can monitor you online to see how often you are playing

Now please answer the times table worksheet below. You can write the answers in your red maths book or print the worksheet.

Yesterday you collected lots of exciting vocabulary for your poem. Today I am going to help you write a poem, based on the Great Fire of London. Please watch the video on the school videos section of our website (under Children, School Videos, Year 2 videos) where I will talk you through the slides. There will be times when you will be asked to pause each slide to complete the instructions. Please do your best and be creative!
