Badge Week October 2022

At the end of October, we have celebrated our theme week by earning badges for different skills.

We have had the opportunity to take part in Forest School, First Aid and the circus came to our school.

Take a look below at all of the skills we have learnt this week.

MONDAY

We have learnt the skill of working as a team. We had to construct an object that linked to the circus. We used our imagination and created tight ropes, circus tents, bike cage and many more ideas.

We learnt our times table badge by joining in with the ‘Supermovers’ times table song. We also had a battle of the times tables. We had lots of fun.

We experienced our first Forest School session. We searched for insects and made our own wormery which we took home as our pet. We were very lucky and were treated to s’mores. Some children earned a Big Mac s’mores, they were so tasty!

TUESDAY

We attended our weekly swimming lesson. Instead of practicing our swimming stroke skills, we practiced our life safety skills. We now know how to stay safe and how to save somebody else’s life if they were in danger.

We have all learnt how to be a First Aider. We learnt how to deal with cuts, burns, broken bones, the recovery position, how to do CPR and how to save somebody from choking. We completed the course and passed.

We made our very own Jangles’ a character from our class novel ‘The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane’. We worked together as some parts were tricky.

Afterwards we reacted Jangles Dance from the story.

We earnt our super scientist badge by completing our egg experiment. We looked at the effect different liquids have on our teeth. We used eggs as they represented Enamel, which we could link to our teeth. The results were amazing and disgusting. We all had a turn and inspecting and observing the eggs. It was Eggtraordinary!

WEDNESDAY

We earnt our Poetry badge by creating a poem from our recent English novel ‘The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane’.

We were super lucky to have the Circus come to our school. Angus taught us how to juggle, spin plates and lots of amazing tricks. We had so much fun we did not want to stop!

As part of our Drama Badge, we recited the Henry VIII song Divorce, Beheaded and Died. We worked in groups to create actions and learn the words.

We also worked together to chant our Forest school song which we love to sing. The chant got stuck in our head we could not stop singing it every day!

Please click the link to take you to our school video page. You will find our songs on the Year 4 2022-2023 section.

The biggest skill we learnt this week was to be a good friend. We spent time together whilst participating in all of these skills. We spent time together in the secret garden to celebrate our friendships.

We realised we are a fantastic Year 4 Team!
