Maths- L.O. Fractions- Lesson 4: Recognise a quarter

Click on the link below, then click Week 1 and watch the clip ‘Lesson 4- Recognise a quarter’.

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/

Then I would like you to click ‘Get the activity’ next to the clip. If you have a printer, please print the activity sheets and complete them. If not, put the short date and objective in your red maths book and work your way through the questions. Please answer the questions as best and as neatly as you can, you can draw the shapes from the questions to help you, and number instead of tick.

English- L.O. To identify the features of a riddle.

Read the riddle below.

I dazzle brightly in the sky,

Clouds creep slowly, as they pass me by.

You will not see me in the dark night,

For I am a luminous globe of light.

You can’t look at me as I’m far too bright,

But I will let you look at lots of gorgeous sights.

My rays will burn down giving you lots of hot heat,

On the ground below me, people like to meet.

I like to create relaxation all around,

Happily smiling down at everyone without a sound.

Making shadows throughout the day,

I’m absolutely glorious, is what people say.

What am I?

*ANSWER*

I am the sun.

Please put the date and learning objective in your green book, and find some examples of these features from the riddle. You may want to present it like this in your book:

Adjectives- dark, luminous, bright…. *you can find some more*

Verbs-

Adverbs-

Alliteration-

Rhyme-

*Reminder*

Adjectives- words that describe a noun.

Verbs- doing words

Adverbs- describe a verb ‘slowly’

Alliteration- two or more words put together that start with the same letter ‘clouds creep’

Rhyme- words with the same sound

History- Toys from the past- L.O. To know about toys today.

Read the power point below.

In your green writing book, put the date and objective. Then, I would like you to draw me a picture of your favourite toy (no bigger than half a page) and label its features. Underneath, describe what it does and what it is made from.

Finally, to follow on from our riddle work in English, I would like you to write me a riddle to describe a toy of your choice from today. Remember to describe it, but don’t say it! Your riddle should be at least 6 clues and the last line should be ‘What am I?’

Please blog or email me today to let me know that you are ok and have finished your tasks. Thank you.

*Please try and make some time to read to your adult at some point today and fill in your reading diary!*

You're doing a fabulous job and making me very proud heart

Keep on working hard Year 2.

Have a lovely day.

Love, Miss Dewhurst x
