Thursday 4th February

Good morning Year 6!

I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying your learning. We received lots of super work on the blog and through email yesterday. You are trying so hard and we are very proud of you. Well done if you logged onto the Year 6 Teams meeting at 9.10 am yesterday! We will get better at this meeting the more we practice. Don't forget it's the same time every weekday morning. So, let's find out what our work is today...

PE

Today's exercise choices:

1. Go outside for a refreshing walk.

2. Click on the link to Go Noodle and complete 3 of your favourite routines.

3. Have a go at the Bingo Challenge Mr Steele has put on the main Class Page - this looks fun!

Below are your tasks for today. Remember if you need to ask any questions go to the class blog and add a comment to 4-2-21 TODAY'S WORK. Keep checking the comments on this BLOG because that is where we will post our replies to you.

READING

EXCELLENT work everybody who logged in to getepic yesterday and especially to Charlie who was our top reader!  Aim for 10 - 15 minutes of reading each day and our total will grow day by day. In fact out total is growing so much I received an important email from getepic.

ENGLISH

LO: To use the 'show not tell' technique

Today's lesson is REALLY important. I want you to CAREFULLY READ the slides below with the information and instructions for today's work. If you can SHOW not TELL in your writing, your work will MASSIVELY improve. TRY YOUR BEST on this learning objective as it will help you with your writing tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing your work.

Maths Topic- Integers and Decimals

L.O Compare and order numbers to ten million

Today we will be looking at large numbers including populations of countries. We will be using these three symbols. < = >

Remember what I say in school THE ARROW ALWAYS POINTS TO THE SMALLER NUMBER.

Once again you must look at the value of each digit. Use your place value columns.

Get your book and pen ready. Your teacher is Mrs Harris again, and she will guide you through your lesson.

Click on the link below to open your lesson and let me know how you did on the BLOG or EMAIL. What did you score on the quiz?

On the quiz Q1 has missed the start of the question.

It should say

300 tens is equal to 3000. (remember 300 tens means 300 x 10)

Science

L.O Identifying the similarities and differences in animals.

Click on the video link and open the video entitled 3-2-21 Science. I will talk through your lesson with you.

The slides are below so you can read through them again.

The questions are at the end of the slides. Look at the pictures of the 4 groups of different animals and identify 2 similarities and 2 differences. Look at shape, colours, body features.

Optional task.

Look at the National Geographic Kids Website. It's got games and quizzes and fabulous facts.
