Good Morning Year 6!

It's Thursday and the last working day of this week. Yesterday's RE poems were absolutely fabulous - well done everybody! I am sure you will excel at today's learning too. Enjoy your VE Day celebrations with your family on Friday and don't forget to send some photos to the blog or email them to us. Mrs Barker is collecting them all together and she will put them on the school website for everyone to see.

Below are your tasks for today. Remember if you need to ask any questions go to the class blog and add a comment to 7-5-20 TODAY'S WORK. Keep checking the comments on this BLOG because that is where we will post our replies to you.

PE

PE Skills Week

This week we will focus on some PE skills that you could practice at home with your family. Just use any equipment that you can find. If you don’t have a tennis racket, you could use a kitchen tray or just your hand. If you don’t have a ball, scrunch up a piece of paper. If you don't have PE cones, just use any object to mark out your goal. Today’s game is called: Keep Your Tail - just use tea-towels instead of bibs. Click on the link below which teaches you how to play. Let me know how you get on!

ENGLISH

LO: To use grammar and punctuation skills

Complete the next 10 min test from the purple KS2 Grammar and Punctuation Book: Book 1 Set C test 1 page 40. When you have finished, use the answers to mark your work out of 12 and post this score.

LO: To use descriptive language

Go to the English folder underneath the date folders on the Year 6 website page. Here you will find instructions for today's task which is to write a paragraph to describe the world which lays behind your portal door. I can't wait to read these!

MATHS

ATTENTION! Today you have a very important job to do. Platoon 3 and Platoon 4 are running out of supplies and equipment, and you need to get the order to them as soon as you can. They have sent you their order forms. You need to find the total cost for each order form.

Unfortunately, Platoon 4 haven't much money left. They had added their budget onto the order form. If they can't afford everything they want then you must take something off.

BE CAREFUL - The soldiers need their equipment, if you deprived them of something important it could cost lives.

As your commanding officer I expect all the order forms sent to me by the end of the day. You are now dismissed. QUICK MARCH!

You can use a calculator as we haven't much time.

Science

L.O To know the forces that act on a paper plane.

As it’s VE Day tomorrow I thought we would do a science lesson on flight and planes. Planes were a very important part of WWll. No writing today and it should be fun, but please make sure you read though the slides carefully before you make your planes. I really want you to understand what forces are acting on your plane.
